A few come to mind, the first was my first show with Bloodgood at The Paramount Northwest Theatre in Seattle, WA in February, 1986. The second was actually three consecutive shows in December/January, 1990/91 in St. Petersburg, Russia as part of the first recognized Christian Arts Festival in Russia. The third was a tie between Santa Cruz and Sacramento as we played our way down to Rocshire Studios in California to record the Detonation album late in 1986.

WHAT MAKES BLOODGOOD DIFFERENT FROM MOST OTHER BANDS?
Les, Mike, Oz, and Paul
WHAT SONG WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO COVER IN BLOODGOOD?
Rock n’ Roll by Led Zeppelin as it signifies where we are as a band…
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A MUSICIAN?
1) Watching the US Navy Band play the Hawaii Five 0 Theme Song at my elementary school for a concert, 2) seeing Kiss in concert and 3) watching Rail & Company play many concerts throughout my junior high school years.
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE IN BLOODGOOD (BESIDES PLAYING DRUMS)?
Whatever the Lord dictates including but not limited to carrying equipment, loading equipment, unloading equipment, praying with and for band mates, supporting Michael, Les, Paul, and Oz in whatever capacity the Lord directs in conjunction with being helpful to everyone involved in the ministry so we all can remain focused on our true calling of serving Jesus and His will for our lives.
WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT BLOODGOOD SONG TO PERFORM?
It varies based on the drum sets I rehearse on vs. the drum sets I actually use for live performances. For example, changing foot dexterity and sticking patterns on the spot at festival shows where I throw up a 4-5 piece kit in five minutes is a little trickier for me than when I have a little time at a sound check to work out some of the hand/foot patterns on the equipment provided prior to a show, i.e. are there one, two, three, or four rack toms? Are there five crash cymbals or one? Single bass, double bass or double pedal? Movable or non movable hi-hat legs? Etc, etc…
WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY?
Kick the devil in the face…no apologies…preach Jesus, His grace and His forgiveness, His acceptance and His love. His death and His resurrection. His spirit and His return!
WHAT ACHIEVEMENTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
Accepting the fact that I am a wretch who is incapable of achieving anything worthwhile from temporal to long term happiness, short term to long range goals, etc…without faith in God and God’s direction for my life.
WHAT BANDS OR MUSICIANS INFLUENCED YOU MOST?
Kelly Nobles from Rail and Company, Peter Criss from Kiss, John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, Neil Peart from Rush, Charlie Watts from the Rolling Stones, Cozy Powell, Carmine Appice, Simon Phillips, Les Binks, Alan Moore, Buddy Rich, Bill Ward, Mick Tucker, Tommy Aldridge, Denny Carmassi, Michael Deroiser, Tony Brock, too many others, too numerous to mention…
WHAT WERE THE WORST BLOODGOOD SHOWS?
For me, watching Bloodgood as a spectator, record their live DVD in Seattle in 1989. Only for the fact that I wasn’t up there on stage with David, Les, and Mike after three years of preparation…
WHAT WERE THE BEST BLOODGOOD SHOWS?
The Temple Theatre in Tacoma, WA. We had been on the road for a while and we were all playing very well. We had TV exposure prior to the show in conjunction with the video for “The Messiah” that was getting airplay on TBN. The last European tour (for Rock in a Hard Place) was good as well. We were all rehearsed, playing well, and co-headlining with a band from Sweden called Leviticus.
WHAT WERE THE WORST BLOODGOOD TOUR EXPERIENCES?
North Hampton, England 1987. Rhode, Island, USA 1987.
WHAT WERE THE BEST BLOODGOOD TOUR EXPERIENCES?
Opening for Stryper in Portland, OR - 1986. It was the last show of three dates and they gave us a sound check. Our show sounded great and we played well and I got to hang out with Tim Gaines and Oz Fox for about a half hour after the show and watch a few minutes of video footage that Oz Fox recorded of our sound check. Also, playing our way down to California to record Detonation was a great experience. We were prepared, played well, were getting along great and The Lord was very prevalent in all of our lives at that time.
WAS DETONATION OR ROCK IN A HARD PLACE MORE DIFFICULT TO RECORD?
To be honest, both of these albums were two of the easiest records I have ever recorded. For Detonation, we were very well rehearsed and all of us set up in Rocshire Studio and played live. The engineer had me double a drum fill (in Battle of the Flesh). Also, I doubled the hi-hat pattern on a cowbell of the rhythmatic hook of “Self Destruction”. Other than that all of the drum tracks for Detonation were 100% completed live on the first take. For RIAHP, the producer wanted to record the rhythm beds of David, me, and Mike at the same time, and if any one of us made a mistake he wanted all of us to rerecord the whole track. We were all very well rehearsed. “The World” is one of the best drum tracks I have ever recorded for Bloodgood. That being said, RIAHP was probably more difficult than Detonation as David, me, and Mike were musically accountable for each other’s recording performances.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING IN BLOODGOOD (THEN AND NOW)?
Then knowing I was called by The Lord to be the drummer in Bloodgood; touring, writing, rehearsing, recording, playing and developing friendships with people who are now life-long friends and knowing that God used me. Now knowing that God is not done using me. Having a desire to answer and complete my calling; being given another opportunity to grow in the Lord; knowing that God has a purpose for bringing Mike, Les, me, Paul and Oz together.
WHAT ARE THE MOST OFTEN BLOODGOOD RELATED QUESTIONS YOU GET ASKED?
Are you going to play in Seattle? Are you going to record a new album? Are you going to tour? Can I have a shirt? Will you put me on the guest list?
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE DRUMMERS INTERESTED IN GETTING INTO MUSIC MINISTRY?
Pray. Practice. Be willing to do whatever the Lord asks and requires of you. Make sure it’s His ministry - by Him - of Him - for Him under His direction Give it to The Lord!
WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO CRITICS OF BLOODGOOD?
The name is spelled B L O O D G O O D. Please include a picture of the band in your article. Please come to one of our shows.
WHAT IS YOUR MUSICAL BACKGROUND AND TRAINING?
Rudimental training under Cam Armstrong. Trap set training under Bret Morrison. Played drums in school jazz and concert bands. First played professionally at the age of 13 for the theatrical play, “The Apple Tree”. Started my first rock band when I was 15 years old. Full scholarship to study drums at the University Of Portland Summer Jazz School. Started playing professionally full time shortly after graduating from high school.

WHAT DO YOU MISS THE MOST ABOUT THE 90'S?
My dreams.
WHAT DID YOU DISLIKE MOST ABOUT THE 90'S?
My decisions.
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TO BE DIFFERENT ABOUT BLOODGOOD OF PRESENT AND FUTURE COMPARED TO BLOODGOOD OF THE PAST?
Present Less (full band) live performance preparation than in the past. Less personal interaction with band mates than in the past. Less touring than in the past. Future better recordings; new songs; more love for one another; more appreciation for each other; more productive use of our limited times together; more great quality times together.
DESCRIBE THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF HOW YOU BECAME SAVED
In 1986, I needed $150 to pay my part of the rent and as I was wondering how I was going to get the money, the phone rang, it was Michael Bloodgood - Bloodgood needed a drummer to play three shows (opening for some band that I never heard of called Stryper). Michael came over to my apartment and after meeting with him for about twenty minutes, he offered me $50 per show to play with Bloodgood. It was a no-brainer for me as it was the exact amount that I needed and I could play my drums to get the money. After spending time (rehearsing) with Bloodgood, there was something about the way David, Susan, Les, Joyce, Mike and Marilyn interacted with one another that was very appealing. They were open and honest as people, the band played with incredible conviction and they all believed collectively in the reason Bloodgood played music - the band had a purpose, which was really cool - plus they rocked... To make a long story short, I counted the costs for 3-4 months, during which time I read the bible daily to check it out for myself, and spent countless hours before and after rehearsals with Mike, Les, and David asking questions about Jesus before deciding I wanted what they had. I accepted Jesus as my savior in May of 1986.
WHY DID/DO YOU WANT TO BE IN BLOODGOOD?
When I first became a Christian, I felt in my heart that The Lord wanted to use me as the drummer in Bloodgood. That’s the short version.

I like to put potato chips inside of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
WHAT CHARACTERISTICS OF PEOPLE ARE YOU MOST ATTRACTED TO?
In no particular order, passion, ambition, creativity, honesty, loyalty, contentness, loving personality, caring attitude, conviction, drive, energy, inward beauty, upright straightforwardness, and I guess if I’m going to be completely honest here, as far as women are concerned, physical beauty.

Get out of debt, own a house (where I can play my drums 24/7 with a band), have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life, travel when I want, play drums on multi-platinum selling CD’s and DVD’s, play free concerts all over the world, be completely happy and in good physical and mental health for the rest of my life and be able to retire my sisters, brothers, family members and friends.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST THANKFUL FOR?
Besides my salvation? My parents, brothers, sisters, niece and nephews.
WHAT ARE YOU LEAST LIKELY TO DO IN LIFE?
Get out of debt, own a house (where I can play my drums 24/7 with a band), have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life, travel when I want, play drums on multi-platinum selling CD’s and DVD’s, play free concerts all over the world, be completely happy and in good physical and mental health for the rest of my life and be able to retire my sisters, brothers, family members and friends.
WHAT DO YOU DAY DREAM MOST ABOUT?

WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PERSUASION?
Independent.
WHAT WERE YOUR MOST HUMBLING MOMENTS?
Too numerous to single out just one or two.
WHAT WERE THE BEST EVENTS OF YOUR LIFE?
I pray to God that they haven’t happened yet…maybe one day I will be able to truthfully say The Lord used me to play drums on the biggest selling (multi-diamond) record ever recorded and tour in the biggest stadiums throughout the entire world with Bloodgood in the Twenty-first Century and everyone in the world that bought a Bloodgood record or went to a Bloodgood concert was saved and lived happily ever after…for eternity…and The Lord said…”Well done good and faithful servants!”
WHAT ARE THE CRAZIEST THINGS YOU'VE DONE?
Off the top of my head several come to mind…here’s one…I climbed on the roof of an ocean liner going from London to Germany (or Germany to London - I can't remember) with the bass player of Leviticus and a couple of people from their road crew. It was midnight to 8:00am travel time and it was pitch black. The winds were blowing at least 65 mph when we first went up on the roof. The gusts were so strong that we could lean into the wind and instead of falling off the roof into the ocean, the wind held us up. After getting blown a little to close to death for my comfort zone, we started to work our way back but had to take cover on the side of a heater/air conditioner that was sticking out of the top of the roof about 5'as the winds picked up to over 75mph. After about a half hour, we got up enough nerve to take our chances and make our way over to and down the fire escape/roof access ladder. Any one of the four of us could have been blown off of the roof into the ocean at any time.
WHAT ARE THE SCARIEST THINGS YOU'VE DONE?
Nothing really too scary…stupid things done would be way easier to answer. Maybe walking down the streets of Belfast, Northern Ireland at night after one of our concerts to the people’s houses that we were staying at. It was too unsafe for Christians to stay in a hotel/motel due to the “religious war”. Armored tanks and soldiers with machine guns patrolled the city for terrorists and terrorist behavior. (A bank had been blown up the previous day.) There was a mandatory curfew and the city was literally locked up at night and guarded to keep people from coming in.

WHAT IS THE WORST JOB YOU'VE EVER HAD?
Working at a Car Wash…I won’t go into “details”.
IF YOU WERE RULER OF WORLD
I never really thought about it…hopefully the Lord would bless me (with an awesome concubine) and everyone in the whole world would all live happily ever after for eternity!
